Paver Sealing in Jacksonville, FL

A paver driveway or lanai fades in three stages. The color goes flat, the sand washes out of the joints, then the pavers start to shift because there is nothing holding them together. Sealing stops that clock, and it looks dramatically better the day it is done.

What you get

What paver sealing includes

Sealing is not one step. The surface has to be cleaned down to the actual stone, the joints have to be refilled with new sand, and the sealer only goes on once everything is dry. Skipping the sand is the shortcut that makes a job look great for a month and fail by the second summer.

  • Deep clean

Surface cleaner and detergent take off the dirt, the mildew and the tire film that has soaked into the stone.

  • Weed and moss removal

Anything rooted in the joints comes out before new sand goes in, or it grows straight back through it.

  • Joint sand

Fresh polymeric sand swept into every joint, then set so it locks the pavers to each other.

  • Full dry time

The stone has to release its moisture before sealer touches it. Rushing this is what turns a sealer cloudy.

  • Sealer application

Even coverage across the surface, with the edges and the border course cut in by hand.

  • Color choice

Natural finish keeps the matte look, wet look deepens the color. You pick before I start.

Why it is worth it

What changes after

  • The color comes back

Sealed pavers look closer to the day they were laid than to last week.

  • The joints hold

Locked sand keeps stones from shifting, which is what leads to the expensive repair.

  • Stains sit on top

Oil, leaf tannin and rust have a much easier time coming off a sealed surface.

    Seal and stay off

Sealer goes down once the stone is dry. Foot traffic after a few hours, vehicles the next day.

FAQ

Paver Sealing questions

How long does paver sealing take?

Usually two days for a driveway. Day one is the cleaning and the joint sand, day two is the sealer, because the stone has to be dry before anything goes on it.

How much does it cost?

Paver work is priced by square footage rather than a flat rate, since a small lanai and a full driveway are different jobs. Send photos and rough measurements and you get a real number back.

How long does the sealer last?

Two to three years on a driveway in Florida sun, longer on a covered lanai. Traffic and sun exposure decide more than anything else.

Can you fix pavers that already look hazy?

Usually. A white haze normally means a previous sealer went on over trapped moisture. It has to be stripped before anything new goes down, and I will tell you upfront if that is what your surface needs.

When can I drive on it?

Walk on it after a few hours and park on it the next day. I will give you the exact window when I finish, because humidity that week changes it.

Do I have to seal, or is cleaning enough?

Cleaning alone is fine and it is cheaper. It just means you are back to a faded surface and open joints sooner. Around Nocatee and St. Johns, where the sand washes out fast, sealing is what makes the cleaning last.
